The first 30ish pages or so is all about learning specific things, from ingredients to cooking methods and whatnot for the beginners, and the next nearly 270 pages is all recipes and stuff. The book looks and feels great, but one thing I had to knock a star off for is the lack of pictures on a plethora of recipes. There's plenty that do have one but plenty more than don't and it makes no sense to not include them.Also, I think it would have been nice if a recipe is available online, either on their YouTube channel or elsewhere (usually the description takes you to a specific recipe location), the recipe in the book would have a QR code or quickURL to visit on your phone/Internet-accessible device to get the video/online recipe (which would also fix the lack of pictures too).Overall, it's a good book. You'll find tons of great recipes in here, both new and old, I'm just a tad disappointed not having pictures for every recipe. Helps give you a guide to know if you screwed up or what it 'should' look like.
The recipes that are in here seem great however there is a large vegetarian section but only one recipe for a steak and it's a skirt steak... Not even one recipe for a simple fillet or anything.
I bought this book with the intention of having a beginners guide to cooking and baking, with simple to follow or easy to try recipes that would be delicious. Looking through the book, none of the recipes interested me, honestly, some of them seemed way out there for a beginner chef and beginner eater. I found myself going to the Tasty Website anyways...which is free. So I will be returning, this book seems great but honestly its a personal preference. I would check it out at a local book store or find images online before purchasing to see if the recipes are anything you would be interested in.
I like the book overall but it would be even better if all recipes had a picture so I can tell what it would look like if I made it. Has different receipes you don’t see everywhere else which makes the book worth getting.
Don't go by the reviewers saying that there's no pictures in book. There's plenty of them to show the results. But, there're some receipes that don't have pics. Great presentation and very good recipes! Highly recommended
Save your money. Many of the recipes don't have pictures of what the dishes should look like. Just go to YT and watch their videos instead. I found this book to be a waste of money.
I got this book for my cousin for Christmas. She is a pinterest fanatic and is constantly creating fun snacks and desserts. She was so excited when she opened this up and instantly found some recipes she wanted to try next. She loves the tips and tricks it listed as well. For young or new cooks, I recommend this book. Simple but classic recipes, clear instructions, easy-to-find ingredients and a lot of the recipes have videos online as well.
Love this book! It is great for beginners like me who want help with everything from what things are in the kitchen including tools and kitchen staples to what’s the difference between oils to how to cook quick healthy meals to how to bake lavish (and unhealthy) cakes to how to make big dishes for entertaining (and impressing)! We have made a few recipes and my husband and I have been very satisfied! Going to buy the other Tasty written cook books soon.
