In his new book, Vasili has created a case for music and dance at work. Not instead of work, or as a break, but -while- you work.Ads and articles about standing desks have cropped up quite often lately, and that would seem to be a requirement to be able to dance while working, implementing body rock or WAD (work and dance). Limitless contains an abundance of links to references that back up the case for moving while working at a computer desk.I've worked with Muzak, oldies stations, top 40 stations, and even country music in the background, and any of those situations were preferable to silence (it's not a coincidence that all my current work areas include a 3-to-6 piece sound system). I find that familiar music is sufficient, so even new music works after a few days of listening to it, slowly moving into the background where I can mostly ignore it and concentrate on work. This much of the book's thesis I fully agree with.Dancing to EDM music, however, doesn't seem like a good alternative for me - but perhaps it will work for younger workers.The book is certainly worth a read to see if the author's suggestions for a workspace will help you!

I heard a quote the other day: "Sitting is the new smoking". It's scary to think that most people in society (children and adults) spend most of our days sitting, while studying or working, and that it is adversely affecting our health. This book talks about mixing working/studying with constant movement, or dance. The author researched and put into practice the ideas in the book, and over the years has experienced great results - his mind cleared, his health increased, he became happier, plus many other benefits. I am a huge fan of health and wellness, yet never heard about this method. I am eager to put it into practice! An informative, short read that packs a punch!

I’ve known for a while that music is very important to our emotions, but this is so much more. As well as the ‘what’, the author explains the ‘why’’, which I found both interesting and helpful. If you have to force yourself to do exercise, this is a way to make it something you’ll look forward to. There’s no expenditure involved except for something to help raise your desk and a set of headphones. What I found most incredible is that scientific studies show that the kind of music that’s used in WAD (work and dance) is linked to cancer prevention, and has a therapeutic effect on people with challenges like ADHD, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and dystonia, to name a few. WAD helps to eliminate depression, boredom, and anxiety, and turn tedious tasks into pleasurable ones. I had no idea, either, that certain music can help you not only to process anger, but also to prepare your mindset for emotional situations that you can anticipate. This is definitely a concept to investigate very seriously. Does it sound far-fetched? No, I don't believe so – not when you read what this author has to say.
