This is unquestionably a very helpful guidebook - we read it before our four days in Seattle and subsequent 12-day cruise to Alaska and British Columbia; and we referred to it, of course, every time we reached a destination. My only quibble - and it is a quibble - is that it seems to focus almost exclusively on higher-end attractions, restaurants, and the like. There are so many other equally interesting things to see and do, and other equally fine cafés and restaurants that cost much less than those recommended, for the most part. But we are certainly happy that this Fodor's was a part of our traveling kit.
This is such a well written guide! We are preparing for our 2nd Alaska Cruise, and not only is it amazingly informative to help us prepare for our upcoming cruise, it also is wonderful to see what we did right on the first time around and what we may want to change. Pictures are beautiful, great organization of information, and thorough descriptions as we'll. If you are already booked on an Alaska Cruise, or just thinking about it, I highly recommend this book!
Great starting point for the novice cruiser planning to see the coast of Alaska.
Looks like most of the info was copied form travel pamphlets. Barley 2 pages were dedicated to the cruise line I was on. There are other much better books available. Alaska By Cruise Ship - 8th Edition by Anne Vipond is a much better choice. It has better details and info on ports and excursions.
More info then I need or want to read for the trip I took!

Well informative on ports, cruise ships, ports of call and excursions. Very satisfied with the information concerning my first Alaskan cruise. Once I have taken the cruise I will update more.
